Social Worker
Adolescent AIDS Program

The AAP is currently seeking a full time dynamic and innovative Social Worker to serve as a professional member of an interdisciplinary team that provides comprehensive medical and psychosocial care for HIV+ youth. The position requires the ability to provide a range of direct and indirect services for patients and their familes including but not limited to the identification of psychosocial problems and their resolution. The ideal candidate will be skilled in case management, discharge planning, treatment and adherance counseling, heading support groups, and research.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Individual, Family and Peer Group therapy for HIV+ youth
- Case Management for HIV+ youth and their family members
- HIV Counseling and Testing and Risk Reduction for At-risk youth
- Training/Consultation/Outreach to Mental Health and Social Service Providers
- Serve as the facilitator of Adolescent Trial Network (ATN) community advisory board
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree in Social Work from an accredited by the Council of Social Work Education with certification (LMSW or CSW)
- Experience with and knowledge about psychosocial/developmental issues in adolescence/young adulthood important
- Knowledge about and experience with HIV beneficial but not required
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred

The AAP is currently seeking a full time dynamic and innovative Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to serve as a professional member of an interdisciplinary team that provides comprehensive medical and psychosocial care for HIV+ youth. The position requires the ability to oversee a cohort of research volunteers and conduct the following: the informed consent process, patient interviews, and follow up, quality and timely data collection, data entry and assisting health care providers with patient examinations, counseling, specimen collection and shipping, as well as demonstrate leadership skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Physical exams and follow up visits
- Continuous Quality Improvement
- Chart/laboratory result abstraction and knowledge of acceptable source documentation
- Follow proper Informed Consent process
- Data entry of study visits
- HIV counseling & testing
- Phlebotomy and assistance with other specimen collection
- Maintain professional practice standards and clinical expertise
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Degree and NYS License to practice
- Phlebotomy skills
- Experience working with in adolescents/young adulthoods
- Knowledge about and experience with HIV beneficial but not required.

Training Coordiantor
Adolescent AIDS Program

The Adolescent AIDS Program seeks a dynamic Training Coordinator to help plan and implement the organization’s local and national health care training initiatives for medical and mental health providers, program professionals and advocates. The Training Coordinator will manage several grant funded projects focused on the training of health professionals in cutting-edge HIV/AIDS treatment, testing and prevention approaches. The Training Coordinator will also be tasked with developing and delivering training sessions as well as providing ongoing technical assistance to clients within the New York/New Jersey region and beyond.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and coordinate day-to-day management and implementation of the organization's professional health care training programs
- Mobilize and coordinate the training activities of AAP clinical staff and create materials including surveys, needs assessments, slides and handouts to support these trainings
- Assist in strategy and implementation of a major medical institution scale up of routine HIV testing using ACTS, the AAP's innovative testing program. Duties will include: identifying and engaging clinical and administrative partners that can help meet project goals; conducting site assessments and creating site-specific technical assistance plans for scaling up routine testing; designing and delivering training sessions on ACTS implementation to clinicians, counselors and other partners; problem solving challenges to project implementation; preparing reports for funders; and representing the AAP at conferences and meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MPH/MA/MS preferred with a background in health education, public health/administration or equivalent (BA/BS required)
- Minimum 2 years experience managing health programs that required strategic planning, reporting and service delivery
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including proven ability to design and deliver dynamic training sessions for health professionals
- Understanding of current issues in HIV diagnosis, treatment and prevention and familiarity with clinical practice change/capacity-building strategies
- Ability to travel outside of the NY/NJ region
